German-speaking Finance & Tax Specialist

This is a remote position.
Currently, we are looking for a Finance & Tax Specialist (German-speaking) for our key client, an international corporate service provider supporting clients with accounting, administration, and corporate governance across multiple jurisdictions. The firm helps entrepreneurs generating €1–100 million in annual revenue legally reduce their tax burden, develop cross-border business models, and sustainably build and protect wealth. Known for its innovative and comprehensive approach, it collaborates with top lawyers, tax advisors, and business consultants to deliver tailored solutions for medium-sized companies both nationally and internationally.
In addition to classic financial accounting and controlling tasks, the role includes supporting tax advisory and strategic consulting activities, working closely with a Dubai-based German tax advisor. This includes research, preparation of strategy papers, and documentation of consultancy meetings, making the position closer to a Tax Assistant (Steuerassistent) than a purely accounting-focused role.
Your Duties:
As a Finance & Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining accurate day-to-day bookkeeping, including recording financial transactions, reconciliations, and journal entries across multiple client entities.
- Preparing regular management accounts and financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) in accordance with applicable standards such as IFRS or local GAAP.
- Ensuring all financial records and reports comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and professional standards within common-law frameworks, and coordinating with external advisors when required.
- Documenting methodologies, assumptions, and calculations in a clear, audit-ready manner to ensure full transparency and traceability.
- Performing periodic reconciliations (banks, payables, receivables, intercompany accounts) and promptly investigating and resolving discrepanc
- ies.
- Supporting tax-related activities and acting as a Tax Assistant/Tax Consultant, working closely with a German tax advisor based in Dubai.
- Conducting research, drafting strategy papers, and preparing meeting minutes and protocols for tax advisory sessions.
- Assisting with tax filings, statutory reporting, and corporate tax planning activities in collaboration with external tax partners.
- Using and further developing AI tools, automation solutions, and standardized procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting and tax workflows.
- Communicating professionally with clients via email regarding document requests, transaction clarifications, system access, and accounting-related coordination.
- Collaborating with internal colleagues to ensure timely and accurate delivery of client reporting while upholding confidentiality and data protection standards.
- Requirements
- 2 - 4 years of experience in roles such as Financial Accountant, Financial Controller, Bookkeeper, Finance/Accounting Assistant, or Tax Assistant with hands-on responsibility.
- Experience working in English-language, international, or common-law accounting environments (US GAAP, UK GAAP, IFRS familiarity).
- Strong technical accounting skills, including preparing full sets of accounts and management reports.
- Interest in tax advisory and strategic consulting topics; prior experience supporting tax advisors is an advantage.
- High accuracy and attention to detail, with a structured and reliable working style.
- Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software.
- Ability to use and refine existing AI and automation workflows (Perplexity AI, Make.com, Wispr Flow, ChatGPT, Zapier).
- Experience with routine bookkeeping and basic IFRS/GAAP adjustments (no full statutory accounts required).
- Strong German and English language skills at B2/C1 level.
