Position: Adjunct Faculty
Modality: 100% Remote – Asynchronous Online
Compensation: Paid Per Class (Flat Rate)
Reports To: Chief Academic Officer
Position Summary
Theoria Technical College is seeking a qualified and student-centered History Professor to teach undergraduate history courses within the general education curriculum. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong content knowledge, effective instructional strategies, and a commitment to equitable student learning outcomes in a diverse, adult-learner environment.
This position may be offered on an adjunct or part-time basis, depending on enrollment and instructional needs.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach assigned history courses in accordance with approved syllabi and course learning outcomes
- Deliver engaging instruction using appropriate pedagogical methods for online and/or onsite learning
- Facilitate discussions that encourage critical thinking, historical analysis, and civic awareness
- Assess student learning using established grading criteria and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate academic records and submit grades in accordance with institutional deadlines
- Participate in curriculum alignment, assessment, and continuous improvement processes as required
- Communicate regularly with students and academic leadership
- Adhere to institutional policies, accreditation standards, and academic integrity expectations
- Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in History or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. History, World History, or related subject areas
- Teaching experience at the postsecondary level preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to teach in an online learning environment (LMS experience preferred)
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching adult learners or non-traditional students
- Familiarity with outcomes-based education and assessment practices
- Experience with distance education and regular substantive interaction (RSI)
- Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive teaching practices
