Medical Scribe / Clinical Documentation Specialist for Podiatry Practice (NextGen) - Contract to Hire

Job Description

We are a busy surgical podiatry and wound care practice seeking a highly skilled medical scribe / clinical documentation specialist to assist with structured SOAP note documentation inside NextGen EHR.

This is a long-term role for someone comfortable with specialty surgical documentation, wound care terminology, and structured templates

Responsibilities

• Convert physician dictation into structured, high-quality SOAP notes

• Follow established templates for wound care, surgical, and post-operative visits

• Accurately document procedure details (e.g., debridement, tendon repair, grafts)

• Include appropriate clinical reasoning and MDM support language

• Ensure documentation supports CPT/ICD coding standards

• Enter notes directly into NextGen (preferred) or draft for review

• Assist with chart prep and post-visit documentation tasks

Required Qualifications

• Prior experience as a medical scribe (specialty preferred)

• Strong understanding of SOAP documentation

• Comfortable with surgical terminology

• Experience with wound care documentation is a major plus

• Familiarity with CPT / ICD documentation concepts

• Detail-oriented and fast turnaround

• HIPAA-compliant and professional
