Cargo Polo Inc. is an international logistics company specializing in vehicle exports from the United States to global markets.

As part of our expansion, we are currently applying for our FMC Ocean Transportation Intermediary (OTI/NVOCC) license and are seeking an experienced Qualified Individual (QI) to act as Compliance Officer and support the licensing and compliance process.

Position Overview

The Qualified Individual will serve as the company’s designated FMC Compliance Officer and assist with regulatory compliance related to ocean freight forwarding and NVOCC activities.

This is a part-time remote engagement suitable for experienced professionals in ocean freight forwarding, NVOCC operations, or carrier operations.

    Responsibilities
  • Serve as the company's designated Qualified Individual (QI) for FMC purposes
  • Support the FMC OTI/NVOCC license application and renewal process
  • Advise the company on FMC regulatory compliance requirements
  • Assist in responding to FMC compliance inquiries when required
  • Support preparation and filing of FMC-required tariffs and ensure proper electronic publication
  • Provide general guidance regarding regulatory requirements for ocean freight operations

Note:
This role focuses strictly on compliance and regulatory oversight. The Compliance Officer will not be responsible for operational logistics, pricing decisions, rate negotiations, or daily shipping operations, unless separately agreed in writing.

Required Experience

    To qualify under FMC regulations, candidates should have:
  • Minimum 3 years of Ocean Transportation Intermediary (OTI) related experience
    Examples include:
  • Ocean freight booking and shipment coordination
  • Working directly with VOCCs or NVOCCs
  • Handling or issuing Bills of Lading
  • Managing export ocean shipments
  • Negotiating or obtaining ocean freight rates

FMC Reference Requirement (Important)

    Due to FMC regulations for Qualified Individuals (QI), candidates must be able to provide:
  • Three (3) professional references from external business relationships
    Each reference must:
  • Represent a business relationship involving OTI-related activities (VOCC, NVOCC, exporter/shipper, or similar)
  • Confirm direct involvement in ocean freight / OTI-related services such as booking shipments, working with ocean carriers, issuing Bills of Lading, or negotiating ocean freight rates
  • Cover at least three (3) years of professional working relationship with the candidate

Important:
This does not require 9+ years of total experience, however each reference must independently confirm a minimum 3-year professional relationship involving OTI-related work.

    Compensation
  • Up to $2,000 per month depending on experience
  • Independent Contractor engagement
