Oracle EBS Test Analyst
Role Overview
The Oracle EBS Test Analyst is responsible for planning, executing testing activities across Oracle E-Business Suite implementations, upgrades, and enhancements. The role ensures system quality, data integrity, and business process alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Core Responsibilities
- Test Planning & Strategy
- The Test Analyst Develops And Maintains Test Strategies, Test Plans, And Test Schedules In Alignment With Project Timelines. Key Activities Include
- Defining testing scope across Oracle EBS modules, including Financials, Procurement, Order Management, HRMS, Inventory, and related integrations
- Establishing clear test entry and exit criteria for each test phase
- Collaborating with business analysts and functional consultants to understand business and functional requirements
- Ensuring testing activities are aligned with overall project milestones and delivery objectives
- Test Design & Documentation
- The Analyst Creates And Maintains Detailed Test Artefacts, Including
- Detailed test cases, test scripts, and test data requirements derived from functional specifications and business process documentation
- Ongoing maintenance of all test artefacts within the designated test management tool
- Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs) linking test cases to business and functional requirements
- Test Execution
- The Analyst Executes Testing Across Multiple Phases, Including
- Functional, system integration, regression, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) across Oracle EBS modules
- Validation of system configurations, setups, and business rules
- Verification of data integrity and end-to-end process flows across integrated modules and third-party systems
- Accurate recording of test execution results and supporting evidence within the test management tool
- Defect Management
- The analyst is responsible for the full defect lifecycle, including:
- Logging, tracking, and managing defects using a defect tracking tool with clear and reproducible steps, screenshots, and supporting evidence
- Collaborating with developers and functional consultants to prioritise and resolve defects within agreed SLAs
- Re-testing fixes to confirm defect resolution before closure
- Producing defect trend analysis to support root cause identification
- UAT Support
- The analyst provides hands-on support to business stakeholders during UAT:
- Preparing test environments and coordinating environment readiness
- Providing guidance to business users on test script execution and defect logging
- Collating sign-off documentation and managing UAT closure activities
- Acting as a liaison between business and technical teams to ensure clear communication
- Environment & Data Management
- The Analyst Coordinates Test Environment And Data Activities, Including
- Liaising with the environment management team to ensure environments are provisioned, refreshed, and stable
- Managing the preparation and masking of test data to reflect realistic business scenarios
- Ensuring test data complies with data privacy and security requirements
- Test Automation
- Where Applicable, The Analyst Contributes To Automated Testing, Including
- Developing and/or executing automated regression test scripts for repetitive or high-risk Oracle EBS workflows
- Supporting the adoption, execution, and maintenance of automation frameworks using tools such as Oracle Application Testing Suite (OATS) or similar
- Reporting & Communication
- The analyst provides clear and timely reporting throughout the testing lifecycle:
- Producing regular test status reports covering execution progress, defect status, and overall quality health
- Proactively communicating risks, issues, and blockers to the Test Manager or Project Manager
- Participating in daily stand-ups, test review sessions, defect triage meetings, and steering committee updates as required
- Continuous Improvement
- The Analyst Actively Contributes To Team And Process Improvement
- Supporting the development and enhancement of testing standards, templates, and best practices
- Sharing Oracle EBS testing knowledge and functional insights to uplift team capability
- Identifying lessons learned and recommending process improvements to enhance testing efficiency and quality
- Key Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience testing Oracle EBS R12 or Cloud across one or more modules (Financials, Procurement, Order Management, HRMS, Inventory)
- Strong understanding of end-to-end business processes within Oracle EBS
- Proficiency in test management tools such as JIRA, ALM/Quality Center, or Zephyr
- Experience with defect management and root cause analysis
- Ability to write clear, structured, and traceable test cases from functional specifications
- SQL skills for data validation queries and backend verification (highly desirable)
- Familiarity with Oracle Application Testing Suite (OATS) or other automation tools (advantageous)
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
