Trust and Will Lawyer
We are seeking an experienced Estate Planning and Business Succession Lawyer to review and update my trust and will, ensure my estate plan properly reflects my wishes, and help confirm that my S-corporation is in good standing and can be passed down correctly as part of my overall estate plan. This role should help make sure all legal documents, business succession plans, and ownership transfer strategies are structured properly and in compliance with Colorado law.
The ideal attorney has experience in trusts, wills, estate planning, business ownership transfer, and S-corporation succession planning. They should be able to explain legal matters clearly, identify any gaps or risks, and help create a plan that protects both personal and business assets for the future.
Key Responsibilities:
Review my current trust, will, and related estate planning documents
Advise on updates needed to ensure my wishes are clearly documented and legally enforceable
Help structure a plan for how my S-corporation will be passed down to heirs or beneficiaries
Confirm the business is in good standing and identify any issues that need to be corrected
Review ownership, shareholder, and succession considerations related to the S-corporation
Ensure the transfer of business interests is handled properly within the estate plan
Advise on how to avoid conflicts, legal issues, or unintended tax consequences
Make sure all estate planning and business succession documents comply with Colorado law
Coordinate any needed updates to trusts, wills, business records, and related legal documents
Provide recommendations for asset protection and long-term family/business planning
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in Colorado or strong experience with Colorado estate planning and business law
Experience in estate planning, wills, trusts, business succession, and S-corporation matters
Strong knowledge of Colorado laws related to estates, inheritance, and business compliance
Excellent drafting, review, and communication skills
Detail-oriented and able to identify legal or structural issues before they become problems
Preferred Skills:
Experience with closely held businesses and family business succession
Understanding of S-corporation compliance and ownership transfer rules
Ability to coordinate estate planning with tax and business considerations
Compassionate, clear, and strategic client communication
