Job Title: Equipment Qualification Engineer – Mechanical

Location: Bellevue, WA

Compensation: $84.00 - $135.00

System One is seeking a highly motivated Equipment Qualification Engineer – Mechanical. This position reports to the Equipment Qualification and Testing Senior Manager and provides day-to-day support of our client’s projects and assists in the development of the Equipment Qualification Programs to meet the established regulatory requirements. Works in close consultation with Engineering staff to ensure regulatory requirements are identified and implemented in accordance with the client’s design and licensing strategy. Assists in defining and executing the design and licensing strategy for Equipment Qualification Programs and participates in interactions with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission including pre-application discussions, preparing/reviewing topical reports and other reactor licensing documentation, and responding to requests for additional information.

    Responsibilities
  • Assist in the successful design and implementation of the equipment qualification program.
  • Coordinate with design personnel to ensure new designs and design changes meet Equipment Qualification Program regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain licensing documentation in compliance with Equipment Qualification Programs, regulations, and quality assurance standards.
  • Interface with technical discipline teams, partners, and contractors.
  • Prepare and review technical material such as test requirement documents and specifications.
  • Review correspondence with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
  • Assist with safety analysis report (SAR) revisions and preparation.
  • Prepare or review equipment qualification regulatory evaluations.
    Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field from an accredited, four-year university or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years applicable experience in development and implementation of equipment qualification.
  • Ability to contribute to the equipment qualification program development from blank sheet to final qualification.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement ASME Standards such as QME-1 and the OM Code.
  • Experience with IEEE-344 and other IEEE Standards.
  • Experience in Mechanical Design of commercial nuclear power plants.
  • Familiarity with NEI 18-04 and Regulatory Guide 1.233.
  • Familiarity with Regulatory Guides related to Equipment Environmental Qualification.
  • Direct experience with vendor test facilities.
  • Awareness of current trends and activities in the nuclear industry related to equipment qualification.
  • Ability and willingness to adhere to strict quality assurance standards.
  • Self-starter with ability to manage deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Professional.
  • Experience in interactions with Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff.
  • Strong communication skills.
