Chemistry Expert (AI Training)

About The Role

What if your years of chemistry expertise could directly shape how AI reasons through the most complex scientific problems in the world? We're looking for Chemistry Masters and PhDs to help build and train cutting-edge AI models — designing rigorous, real-world problems that push the boundaries of what AI can understand and solve.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for serious scientists. You'll work asynchronously alongside world-class AI research teams, applying your deep domain knowledge to problems that matter — in organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry.
  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
    What You'll Do
  • Design, solve, and review advanced chemistry problems with genuine real-world complexity and scientific depth
  • Apply your expertise in organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry to craft challenging, high-quality problem statements
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to improve AI model reasoning in the sciences
  • Evaluate AI-generated chemistry content for scientific accuracy, rigor, and clarity
  • Ensure all deliverables meet high standards of scientific integrity and precision
  • Work independently on task-based assignments at your own pace — fully on your own schedule
    Who You Are
  • Master's or PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field
  • Deep expertise in at least one of: organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry
  • Comfortable working with Python or computational chemistry software such as Gaussian or VASP
  • Exceptional written communicator — you can explain complex chemistry clearly and precisely
  • Naturally detail-oriented with a rigorous, systematic approach to scientific problems
  • Fluent in English
    Nice to Have
  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or AI training workflows
  • Familiarity with computational modeling, simulation, or cheminformatics tools
  • Background in academic research, scientific publishing, or curriculum development
  • Experience reviewing or writing technical scientific content for diverse audiences
    Why Join Us
  • Work on frontier AI projects alongside leading research labs and institutions
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, intellectually stimulating work
  • Put your advanced scientific training to use on problems that are genuinely hard and genuinely important
  • Contribute to AI development that shapes how the next generation of tools understands science
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
