Next 150 Construction, a fully owned subsidiary of Gilbane Building Company is seeking a Purchasing Agent II to be responsible for the pre- and post-bid process on one or more projects. Who are we? - Responsibilities
- Administers the bid process from project kickoff to award including system set-up, bid package strategy, Project Manual creation, bid list management, drafting, and reviewing bid package scope of work bid meetings, bid leveling, and recommendation to award
- Administers the contract process including preparing and entering contracts and procurement change orders; assists in negotiation of contract terms; ensures contract compliance
- Assists in identifying and monitoring current market conditions, Trade Contractors, trends, and costs
- Recognizes and drives opportunities in the Diverse Owned Small Business (DOSB) utilization process
- Communicates and coordinates with Trade Contractors, Vendors, and Jobsite Personnel while supporting internal and external customers
- Assists with Trade Partner risk mitigation strategy and execution including coordination with operations teams and risk management
- Coaches and mentors less experienced team members
- Supports a positive and inclusive work environment
- Requirements
- Bachelorâs degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar technical field
- 4+ years of purchasing and/or construction experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability for public speaking and to lead meetings
- Knowledge of construction law, contracts, and risk management
- Knowledge of insurance
- Ability to read construction drawings and understand specifications
- Ability to prepare Project Manual
- Ability to analyze bids, summarize, and present results
- Participate in the GMP process and understand the importance of Purchasingâs role regarding Trade Partnerâs and prequalification.
- Ability to coordinate effective procurement of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC)
- Ability to run the pre-bid RFI process
