Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Landman to support our clients on a project basis. This role is ideal for an independent contractor with a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant title and land experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly supporting operator, acquisition, and due diligence projects.
You’ll work as a 1099 contractor, managing your schedule and deliverables independently while collaborating with client and EPC teams to meet project goals and deadlines.
- Key Responsibilities
- Conduct record title research for assigned properties and projects
- Examine record title for properties of interest to EPC’s clients
- Construct, analyze, and validate chains of title
- Review and interpret oil and gas leases, well files, and regulatory documentation
- Interpret leases, assignments, JOAs, PSAs, unit agreements, farm-ins, and related land contracts
- Identify title defects and recommend curative actions
- Calculate mineral interest, royalty interest, working interest, and net revenue interest with precision
- Prepare clear, professional, client-ready title reports and supporting documentation
- Conduct leasing and acquisition support through professional email and phone communications
- Maintain defensible, audit-ready work product with strong documentation practices
- Communicate questions, title issues, and project blockers early to support timely delivery
- Collaborate with EPC and client teams to meet project milestones and deadlines
- Qualifications
- 5+ years of Landman, title research, or due diligence experience in the oil and gas industry
- Strong experience supporting operated assets, due diligence projects, or E&P environments preferred
- Advanced understanding of title analysis, chain construction, and ownership calculations
- Proven ability to identify title defects and recommend appropriate curative paths
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong time management and accountability
- Highly responsive and proactive in communication with internal and client-facing teams
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to defensible, audit-ready work product
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptable and comfortable working within project-based timelines and fluctuating workloads
