As a Customer Service Benefit Advocate, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our clients, advocating for their benefits, and helping them navigate the complex healthcare system. You will be the first point of contact for our clients, and your role will be to resolve their issues, answer their questions, and provide them with the information they need to make informed decisions about their healthcare.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Respond to and resolve customer service inquiries and issues on the first call, identifying the topic and type of assistance the caller needs
  • Help guide and educate customers about the fundamentals and benefits of consumer-driven healthcare topics, including selecting the best benefit plan options, maximizing the value of their health plan benefits, and choosing a quality care provider
  • Contact care providers (doctor's offices) on behalf of the customer to assist with appointment scheduling or connections with internal specialists for assistance
  • Assist customers in navigating myuhc.com and other careerzynith websites, encouraging and reassuring them to become self-sufficient
  • Research complex issues pertaining to the caller's health, status, and potential plan options, navigating across multiple databases with fluency in computer navigation and toggling while confidently and compassionately engaging with the caller
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 6+ months of customer service experience
  • Experience with computer and Windows PC applications, including the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications
  • Ability to work any of our shift schedules during our normal business hours of 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM CST from Monday - Friday, including the flexibility to work occasional overtime and weekends based on business need
  • *Preferred Qualifications:**
  • Healthcare / Insurance environment (familiarity with medical terminology, health plan documents, or benefit plan design)
  • Social work, behavioral health, disease prevention, health promotion, and behavior change (working with vulnerable populations)
  • Experience with PC-based software programs and automated database management systems; Microsoft Word (create and edit documents), Microsoft Excel (create, edit, sort, pivot spreadsheets), and Microsoft PowerPoint (create and edit presentations)
  • *Telecommuting Requirements:**
  • Ability to keep all company-sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group-approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

  • Hourly range: $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment
