Database Administrator II (Contract)
Overview
The Database Administrator II is responsible for providing advanced technical support for the database environment including the design, development, and organization of the databases and reporting delivery systems. This position will provide the assessment and implementation of new technologies, and providing perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the company.
What You’ll Do
Develop and maintain databases and applications that offer the highest reliability and performance possible
Work with architecture, application development and operations to help achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives
Monitor and maintain database indexing, file systems, and server memory for maximize database performance
Provides and designs tools to assist in the management of the database environment
Works to provide a working model of our database environment for capacity assessment and planning
Monitor database integrity to ensure consistent data for business operations
Create processes and documents for audit standards. Work with internal and external auditor
Develop and monitor database backup and recovery plans
Develops a methodology for the ongoing assessment of database performance and the identification of problem areas
Provides input and assessment during the development and enhancement of production applications including working with applications, technical support and business units during the design, development and implementation of applications
Work with vendors in evaluating and implementing new technologies
Leads and works independently on most projects and assignments
Responsible for the support of complex software-based systems in the supported areas
Maintain and monitor secure user access based on recognized standards and methods
Implement and monitor database security models to mitigate information security risks
Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of custom software, or the installation and maintenance of purchased software systems
Required to produce documentation such as systems requirements, designs, and plans as requested by management
Requirements For Success
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
8+ years’ IT experience
5 years’ experience in development and support of Microsoft SQL DB2 a plus but not required
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Working experience and knowledge in the following:
SQL server 2016 or above
SQL server security, authorization, and auditing best practice
SQL server upgrades and migrations
SQL server AlwaysOn availability groups
Create and troubleshoot complex SQL server jobs
Write complex database queries, stored procedures and views
Database performance tuning and maintenance
Virtualization/Cloud/ SSAS/PAAS
Azure/AWS/VMware
Work with 3rd party database support vendors

This is a full-time position that requires schedule flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Work Environment: Marietta, Georgia and Remote.
