What We Do
We are seeking a Title Examiner with Virginia State experience! The ideal candidate will search public records and examine titles to determine the legal condition of property titles, primarily for residential properties. Responsibilities include copying or summarizing recorded documents affecting the title condition. Work may be performed in production centers or branch offices, with workflow typically determined by geographic practices. The role involves gathering information and creating a title commitment before passing it to a Title Officer.
- Works independently, using experience to examine titles of varying complexity to determine status and establish the chain of title.What You'll Do
- Perform title examinations and review the chain of title for various title orders, mainly residential
- Abstract and analyze records such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books to determine ownership, legal restrictions, and verify legal descriptions
- Resolve issues like missing, incomplete, inaccurate, or contradictory information in title documents
- Prepare initial title commitment documentation following procedural guidelines
- Review reports for accuracy
- Provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned What You'll Bring
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of Virginia state title exam experience
- Attention to detail and quality

- Proficiency with MS Office and company operating systems
- Knowledge of legal terms (helpful)
Salary Range: $22.80 - $30.38 Hourly
This range is an estimate of the base pay at posting time. Pay depends on factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, business needs, and location.
