The Environmental Health and Emergency Preparedness portfolio brings together staff members and an active workgroup with expertise in environmental health, emergency management, climate adaptation, infection prevention and control and community resiliency.

Position Summary:

The Environmental Health and Emergency Preparedness (EHEP) team seeks a Program Manager to provide project management support to EHEP’s current work related to STIs. The Program Manager will be working closely with the Senior Public Health Analyst on a cooperative agreement with CDC’s National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STDs, and TB Prevention focused on providing proactive and individualized technical assistance to advance policy as a public health intervention to reduce morbidity, mortality, and disparities in HIV, viral hepatitis, STDs, and tuberculosis. The Program Manager will work independently and collaboratively to advance the Policy Innovation Exchange (PIX) project. The Program Manager will also work to expand internal and external partnerships, and leverage NNPHI’s network capacity in the following areas: (1) HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STDs, and TB prevention, and (2) policy and public health. The Program Manager will also inform and contribute to the design, implementation, and execution of PIX deliverables.
Requirements:

The Program Manager will provide overall project management, including developing and managing timelines, contracting, scope of work and budget management, leading project planning and implementation, and coordinating with NNPHI staff, members, consultants, and partners to achieve stated goals.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships within NNPHI and with external partners; • Monitor, and fulfill program workplans and budget obligations; • Maintain external partner management (invoicing, contracting, reporting, etc.); • Present work to stakeholder audiences at various forums, including national conferences, as appropriate; • Provide support to internal and external subject matter experts; • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to document and share lessons learned both internally and externally; • Contribute to the development of communication and dissemination materials and communications strategies; • Participate in EHEP portfolio meetings and contribute to developing the portfolio’s strategy for growth; and • Perform other duties related to program management.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate experience with program/project management including working with internal and external partners and their respective areas of work and expertise. • Prior knowledge or experience with familiarity with HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STDs, and TB prevention, and public health policy (but not required). • Excellent time management skills and email management skills, including the ability to manage and stay current with a heavy volume of email inquiries. • Excellent communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate precisely and efficiently virtually and in person with stakeholders from all background and levels of expertise. • Commitment to promoting collaboration and teamwork across organizational boundaries, and maintaining high standards for work products. • Enthusiasm for advancing our mission and extending the reach of our work. • Competency and experience in the use of relevant software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and can quickly learning and utilizing multiple software and online programs (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, Smartsheet Dashboards, Salesforce, Mail Chimp, Canva, Zoom).
