About the position

    Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and review of qualitative and quantitative data collection instruments including survey questionnaires, interview protocols, and focus group protocols.
  • Support the development and execution of theoretically-sound, practical approaches to achieve the statistical objectives of a study or project.
  • Conduct technical reviews of data collection and data processing plans and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and technical soundness.
  • Perform quality checks of data files for errors and anomalies and communicate potential issues to the client.
  • Assist with the conduct of disclosure risk analysis on restricted- and public-use data files.
  • Disseminate study methods and results internally and externally through various formats.
  • Manage small- to medium-sized tasks, including contributing to client meetings and overseeing junior analysts.
  • Provide input for technical sections and budget estimates for proposals.
  • Support learning opportunities for junior staff working on large-scale survey projects.
    Requirements
  • PhD degree in survey methodology, statistics, economics, psychology, sociology, computer science, public policy, public health, or related fields; or a Masters with equivalent experience.
  • Proficient understanding of and experience with survey methodology, survey operations, survey data processing, and/or survey data analysis.
  • Experience with federal surveys and large-scale datasets and knowledge of federal data collection standards is preferred.
  • Interest or experience in advancing survey methods using a variety of approaches and data collection techniques is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively about survey methods, results, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to rigorous quality control at every stage of data collection, preparation, and analysis.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills; ability and willingness to quickly learn new research methods when necessary.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment.
