Volunteer at start-up nonprofit serving NGOs in the Global South (this is an unpaid, pro-bono position)
Be part of the growing movement of skilled volunteers lending their expertise to social entrepreneurs in low- and middle-income countries. S.E.V.A. Travelers (Skilled ۞ Experienced ۞ Volunteers ۞ Abroad) is seeking a volunteer to help launch our new nonprofit organization. This is an unpaid volunteer position for now, but once we raise some funds we plan to convert to a paid internship.
- Responsibilities
- Help us to finish building the new website! (www.sevatravelers.org)
- Create database of skilled volunteers and nonprofits in the Global South
- Research great nonprofits in popular tourist destinations in Asia, Latin America and Africa
- Help the NGOs to identify potential projects for pro-bono consultants
- Reach out to prospective skilled volunteers about the opportunity to be of service abroad
- Reach out to prospective volunteer sites (NGOs in low- and middle-income countries) to serve as host organizations
- Research potential funding opportunities for NGO capacity-building
- Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail (ability to set up spreadsheets, Google forms and trackers)
- Familiarity with website building templates (e.g. SquareSpace, Wix, WordPress, etc.)
- Commitment to building NGO capacity and voluntourism in the developing world
- Experience with social media (design, marketing, posting) a plus!
In exchange for your volunteer services, you will have the opportunity to learn about fundraising, nonprofit management, and the social sector in low- and middle-income countries.
