The Controller's Office is responsible for AARP's enterprise-wide accounting activities, including maintaining internal controls, compliance with legal reporting requirements, grants management, revenue recognition, general ledger activity, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, tax, and procurement functions.

    Responsibilities
  • Creating, executing, and managing category management plans in one of the organization's main spend areas: Telecom & IT, Marketing and Advertising, Indirect, or Professional Services.

  • Serving as the primary procurement subject-matter expert in the assigned category.

  • Developing overall category strategy and researching new product category options to support organizational needs.
  • ,
  • Managing key supplier contract requirements, performance, and relationships.
  • ,
  • Collaborating with procurement and business unit leadership to develop overall category strategy and subcategory plans.
  • ,
  • Leading large, complex, strategic sourcing projects and contract negotiations.
  • ,
  • Overseeing and implementing annual category management objectives and targets.
  • ,
  • Managing and maintaining key business unit, supplier, and staff relationships.
  • ,
  • Managing and maintaining compliance with the organization's procurement policies, processes, and procedures.
    Requirements
  • A four-year college degree required.
  • ,
  • 5+ years of commercial procurement experience in category management, contract management and administration, and strategic sourcing with more than $50 million in managed spend.
  • ,
  • 3+ years of progressive direct people management experience.
  • ,
  • Ability to build and implement frameworks to respond to demands of procurement.
  • ,
  • Extensive experience in managing complex, high-dollar procurement actions accurately and efficiently.
  • ,
  • Knowledgeable of the source-to-contract and procure-to-pay segments of procurement operations.
  • ,
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills with a deep understanding of contractual terms and conditions.
  • ,
  • Superior communication, organizational, interpersonal skills.
    Nice-to-haves
  • Industry-designated certification such as Certified Sourcing Professional (CSP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM).
