We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team at Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy (MGLVA), a Stride K12 partner school. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, personalized education to students with special needs, and helping them achieve their full potential.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a state-certified Special Education Teacher to work with students in an online environment, providing instruction, support, and guidance to ensure their success. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for special education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specific course content in an online environment, tailored to meet the individual needs of students with special needs


• Develop and implement compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), progress reports, and other state-specific required special education documentation


• Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure students receive the appropriate therapies and support


• Facilitate collaborative special education meetings, such as annual IEP meetings


• Use provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities


• Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals and objectives


• Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students


• Demonstrate a commitment to personalizing learning for all students and establishing positive relationships with families

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and active state special education teaching license


• Ability to clear required background check


• Endorsement in Special Education


• Residency in Michigan


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and interpret student data to drive instructional decisions


• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint


• Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
