Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy (MGLVA), a Stride K12 partner school. As an online educator, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, personalized education to students with special needs in grades K-5. Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specific course content in an online environment, tailored to meet the individual needs of students with special needs


• Develop and implement compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), progress reports, and other state-specific required special education documentation


• Communicate effectively with parents, related service staff, and IEP team members to ensure students receive necessary therapies and support


• Facilitate collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings


• Provide accommodations and modifications to Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP


• Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals and objectives


• Analyze student data to inform remediation and enrichment strategies


• Establish and maintain positive relationships with families, students, and learning coaches/parents

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree


• Active State Special Education teaching license


• Ability to clear required background check


• Michigan residency required


• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint


• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with students in grades K-5


• Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology


• Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment


• Experience with online learning platforms
