Job Summary:
The Department of English is looking for affiliate faculty for online teaching of MA Literature Specialization courses. The term is Summer 8 Week 1, which runs from May 4–June 28, 2026. Affiliate faculty will teach MALW-608 Writing Rhetoric Non-Fiction. This course expands on the study of nonfiction writing as rhetoric, focusing on theories of pedagogy and practice of nonfiction. Students will develop advanced strategies for writing and teaching academic and creative nonfiction.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver recorded virtual lectures

Actively engage with student posts on the discussion board

Respond to student questions

Provide feedback and grade assignments

Hold 1 ½ virtual office hours per week

A completed course shell and syllabus are provided.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree in English or related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Excellent teaching skills and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated understanding of the adult learner

Commitment to educational outcomes and objectives

Collaborative attitude

A belief in accelerated learning, respect for culturally and linguistically diverse non-traditional students and their experiences, enthusiasm for life-long learning, and a passion for the subject matter which is being taught.

This position is benefits-eligible for workers’ compensation and will receive 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.

Pay Rate:
Per 3-credit section: $400 per student (1-7 students), $3,225 (8-21 students), $150 each additional student (22-28 students)
