About This Role

This two-month Amazon KDP advertising campaign targets readers seeking "chaos to redemption" narratives—transformation stories in the addiction, recovery, and personal development categories. Your role is to build a profitable ads ecosystem from the ground up, continuously optimize performance, and drive conversions. This role is active, data-driven management with direct accountability for return on ad spend (ACOS) and overall campaign profitability.

What You'll Own:

Strategy & Account Setup

  • Create and configure Amazon KDP Ads account, linking to the author's book profile
  • Develop advertising strategy aligned with book launch timeline and budget constraints
  • Set up initial campaign architecture (Automatic + Targeted campaigns) with clear performance objectives
  • Configure account settings, bid strategies, daily budgets, and spend parameters
  • Establish performance baselines and success metrics (target ACOS, daily spend, conversion rate targets)

Campaign Execution & Optimization

  • Conduct comprehensive keyword research, identifying high-intent search terms (e.g., "addiction memoir," "recovery stories," "chaos to redemption," "indie books," related categories)
  • Test and launch new keyword variations across targeted campaigns; pause underperformers with clear reasoning
  • Add strategic negative keywords to prevent wasted spend on irrelevant searches
  • Continuously adjust bids based on keyword performance, increasing bids for winners and reducing/pausing low-performers
  • Allocate and reallocate daily budgets across campaigns to maximize ROI and capture highest-performing channels

Performance Monitoring & Optimization

  • Track ACOS (Advertising Cost of Sales) daily, with weekly analysis
  • Monitor conversion rates, click-through rates, and cost-per-click trends
  • Analyze ROI by campaign, keyword, and audience segment
  • Identify optimization opportunities and implement changes proactively (bid adjustments, keyword additions, targeting refinements)
  • Document all changes and their impact on performance metrics

Reporting & Communication

  • Deliver weekly performance reports to project lead including:
  • ACOS and trend analysis
  • Total spend, clicks, conversions, and estimated revenue generated
  • Top-performing keywords and campaigns
  • Recommended strategy adjustments or budget reallocations
  • Current daily spend status vs. budget
  • Present clear recommendations for budget increases/decreases based on performance data
  • Maintain transparent communication on campaign health and any concerns

Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience managing Amazon KDP or Amazon Advertising campaigns (minimum 1–2 years)
  • Strong understanding of ACOS, conversion tracking, and profitability metrics
  • Experienced with Seller Central and Amazon's advertising interface
  • Excellent analytical skills; ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions quickly
  • Comfort with keyword research tools and bid management
  • Track record of reducing ACOS while maintaining consistent conversion volume
  • Clear written communication; ability to explain performance trends to non-technical stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Experience with indie/self-published books is a plus, but not required
