Asset Survey & Due Diligence Field Consultant

Contract (6-12 weeks) | Remote in Detroit, MI

About the Company

CEG Assessments is seeking motivated, self-directed professionals to support a 6–12 week asset survey contract in the Michigan/Indiana area, with the opportunity to transition into our Independent Contractor Due Diligence Program (Launchpad) upon successful completion.

This role is ideal for individuals who want hands-on field experience, enjoy working independently as well as on a small team, and are interested in building a long-term career in commercial real estate due diligence consulting.

About the Role

The initial contract focuses on high-volume asset data collection and equipment surveys, followed by opportunities to grow into Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Property Condition Assessments (PCAs), and broader consulting services.

Responsibilities:

    Asset Survey
  • Conduct on-site walk-through surveys of commercial and industrial properties
  • Capture photographic documentation and equipment data
  • Perform physical audits to verify asset condition and accuracy
  • Ensure data quality and correct discrepancies
  • Use tablets/mobile devices for real-time data entry
  • Maintain communication with project managers
  • Deliver consistent, detail-oriented work
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
    Transition to Due Diligence Independent Contractor
  • Property Condition Assessments (PCAs)
  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)

Qualifications:

    Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in the field and office settings.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide (up to 75%).
    Preferred
  • Internship or 1 year of prior experience with PCA or Phase I ESA assessments.
  • Exposure to facilities maintenance, data collection, or asset tagging.
  • Familiarity with ASTM standards and environmental compliance.
  • Proficiency with digital field tools and reporting software.
    Physical Demands
  • Stand or walk for most of an 8-hour day (up to 3–4 continuous hours).
  • Climb stairs and ladders to get onto roofs and above equipment.
  • Stoop, kneel, or crouch to access equipment data plates.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 40 lbs.
