Building Enclosure Consultant – Building Envelope

Location: Ann Arbor, MI

Position: Full-Time

Metric Geo is partnering with a leading employee-owned consulting firm seeking an experienced Building Enclosure Consultant. This role involves providing expert consulting services for both new construction and existing buildings, with a focus on waterproofing, exterior walls, roofing, and fenestration systems.

Role Overview:

As a Building Enclosure Consultant, you will serve as the primary client contact for a wide range of projects. Your work will cover design, assessment, and evaluation of building enclosure systems, from below-grade waterproofing to roofing assemblies. With the support of a local director, you will lead projects through investigation, design, peer review, bidding, and construction administration, delivering innovative and practical solutions to clients.

    Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage building envelope projects from initial investigation through construction administration.
  • Conduct site inspections and prepare detailed technical reports.
  • Draft proposals with clear scopes of work.
  • Develop contract documents, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Review enclosure details and specifications for accuracy and constructability.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in building envelope consulting and waterproofing.
  • Strong knowledge of exterior systems and materials, including facades, roofing, and windows.
  • Experience working on both new construction and evaluation of existing structures.
  • Familiarity with ASTM and AAMA standards and field testing procedures.
  • Strong communication and client management skills, with an interest in business development.
  • Ability to compile and deliver high-quality RFQ/RFP responses.
  • Professional licensure in engineering or architecture (or in progress) preferred.
  • Experience with WUFI or other modelling tools is a plus.
  • Forensic investigation background or interest preferred.
  • Local market knowledge is an advantage.
