Chemistry Research Experts (PhDs)

• *Mercor is seeking researchers in core areas of Chemistry for a short-term premier pilot project with one of the world's top AI labs.**

In this role, you will contribute your scientific expertise to a cutting-edge project involving state-of-the-art large language models. Specifically, you will help create high-quality data that will inform the future of AI innovation by modeling how expert chemists reason through complex problems in their domain.

### You're a good fit if you:

• Are actively conducting original research in a core, non-biological subfield of chemistry, such as:

• Organic Chemistry

• Inorganic Chemistry

• Physical Chemistry

• Computational Chemistry

• Routinely engage in high-level intellectual work, including:

• Designing or optimizing synthetic pathways

• Developing mechanistic hypotheses

• Conducting or interpreting quantum chemical simulations

• Deriving physical or theoretical models of chemical behavior

• Are deeply engaged in hands-on scientific inquiry and can clearly explain your thought process

• Have strong communication skills and a commitment to academic rigor

### Here are more details about the role:

• The role is ongoing, starting at the end of June/beginning of July and continuing with rolling applications

• The project involves 10–20 hours of work per week with the potential to expand up to 40 hours per week

### Ideal candidates include:

• Professors (Assistant, Associate, or Full) who remain actively involved in research

• Postdoctoral researchers or fellows in chemistry-related fields

• Late-stage PhD students (ideally year 4 or later) working in core chemistry disciplines

• Researchers with a track record of publishing in top chemistry journals such as _JACS_, _Angewandte Chemie_, _Inorganic Chemistry_, _Journal of Physical Chemistry_, etc.
