Computer Aided Design Technician

Neikirk Engineering, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient CAD Technician to join our dynamic team. - *Key Responsibilities**
- Drafting & Design
- Prepare accurate and detailed survey drawings, including property boundary surveys, ALTA/ACSM land title surveys, topographic site surveys, and easement/right-of-way documents.
- Develop site layout and concept drawings based on field data, sketches, and project specifications.
- Create preliminary earthwork exhibits and assist with quantity takeoffs as needed.
- Data Management & Quality Control
- Process and organize field survey data (points, linework, and field notes) into clean, deliverable CAD files.
- Ensure all drawings adhere to company drafting standards, industry best practices, and client requirements.
- Perform quality control checks on drawings to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project scope.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with project managers, surveyors, and engineers to ensure alignment between field data and final deliverables.
- Communicate effectively with team members via virtual platforms to clarify project requirements and address revisions.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with CAD software advancements and industry trends.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of drafting standards and workflows to improve efficiency and quality.
- *Qualifications**
- Education & Experience
- Associate degree or certificate in Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, GIS, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1–4 years of experience as a CAD Technician in land surveying, civil engineering, or a related industry.
- Experience with boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic mapping, and easement documents is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required;
- experience with Carlson Survey or MicroStation is a plus.
- Strong understanding of surveying principles, coordinate geometry (COGO), and land description interpretation.
- Familiarity with point cloud data, GIS integration, and surface modeling is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret legal descriptions, plats, and title commitments.
