About CPI

Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) is an organization with international expertise in finance and policy analysis. CPI has eight offices around the world. In Brazil, CPI has a partnership with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RIO). CPI/PUC-RIO works to improve the effectiveness of public policies and sustainable finance in Brazil through evidence-based analysis and strategic partnerships with members of the government, civil society, the private sector and financial institutions.

Position Summary

We are seeking an Editorial Communications Consultant to support the development and refinement of CPI Brazil’s publications in both Portuguese and English. This role will be responsible for editing and strengthening written outputs to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with CPI’s institutional voice and target audiences.

The consultant will play a key role in transforming complex analysis on climate finance, economics, and public policy into clear, engaging, and accessible publications. This includes reviewing technical content, improving structure and narrative flow, and ensuring that each piece is tailored appropriately for its intended audience—from technical stakeholders to high-level decision-makers.

The ideal candidate has strong editorial judgment, exceptional writing and editing skills in both Portuguese and English, and experience working with policy, research, or technical content. They are detail-oriented, able to work across multiple outputs and timelines, and motivated to contribute to CPI’s mission by strengthening the clarity and impact of its publications.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Includes the following and other duties as assigned:

Review, edit, and proofread CPI publications in Portuguese and English to ensure clarity, accuracy, and coherence, in line with CPI’s editorial standards

Ensure consistency in tone, voice, and style across outputs, aligned with organizational guidelines and target audiences

Identify and correct grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and formatting issues

Provide substantive editorial input to strengthen structure, narrative flow, and overall argumentation

Collaborate closely with researchers, analysts, and communications teams to clarify content and improve readability

Manage multiple documents and deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-project environment

Conduct final quality control checks prior to publication to ensure readiness and consistency

Contribute to the continuous improvement of editorial processes, tools, and documentation standards

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Economics, International Relations, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience in proofreading, copyediting, or editorial consulting

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and Portuguese (required)

Proven experience working with research, policy, technical, or academic content

Experience editing long-form publications

Proficiency in Microsoft Word; familiarity with editorial tools and workflows

Familiarity with climate policy, climate finance, or sustainability topics is desirable

Location and Compensation

CPI Brazil is hiring for one consultant, part-time editorial communications associate position.

CPI offers competitive compensation. Compensation will be dependent on experience.
