About the position

Evaluate and assess childcare programs to assure compliance with regulations and performance standards.
Provide consultation and technical assistance to childcare providers regarding educational programming and classroom management.
Serve as a resource on current trends and research in Early Childhood Education.
Issue notices of violation and make recommendations regarding childcare permits or licenses.
Investigate complaints about licensed childcare services and allegations of unlicensed childcare.
Represent the Department at professional conferences and participate in professional development activities.

A master's degree in education from an accredited college or university, including 12 semester hours in early childhood or elementary education and three years of relevant experience.
A baccalaureate degree in education with student teaching in early childhood education and a master's degree in education, social work, psychology, or counseling, along with three years of relevant experience.
Five years of satisfactory teaching experience as a licensed teacher of early childhood education may substitute for the three years of experience.
