About the position
- Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess childcare programs to assure compliance with regulations and performance standards.
- Provide consultation and technical assistance to childcare providers regarding educational programming and classroom management.
- Serve as a resource on current trends and research in Early Childhood Education.
- Issue notices of violation and make recommendations regarding childcare permits or licenses.
- Investigate complaints about licensed childcare services and allegations of unlicensed childcare.
- Represent the Department at professional conferences and participate in professional development activities.
- Requirements
- A master's degree in education from an accredited college or university, including 12 semester hours in early childhood or elementary education and three years of relevant experience.
- A baccalaureate degree in education with student teaching in early childhood education and a master's degree in education, social work, psychology, or counseling, along with three years of relevant experience.
- Five years of satisfactory teaching experience as a licensed teacher of early childhood education may substitute for the three years of experience.
