About the position
The Early Head Start Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing educational plans for infants and toddlers, focusing on their social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. This role involves collaboration with a Co-Teacher to manage classroom operations, ensure compliance with regulations, and foster partnerships with families. The teacher plays a crucial role in safeguarding children and promoting their well-being while adhering to the values of Save the Children.
Responsibilities
Β Develop and implement individualized and group lesson plans and educational activities for children.

Β Guide and facilitate daily classroom activities and field trips.

Β Select and set up equipment and materials in the classroom, ensuring a safe learning environment.

Β Practice responsive caregiving and integrate appropriate routines into learning experiences.

Β Plan and conduct conferences and home visits to inform parents about their child's progress.
,
Β Maintain accurate records and confidentiality regarding children and families.
,
Β Conduct observations, assessments, and screenings for each child.
,
Β Work with Program Aides and Volunteers to enhance their skills in classroom activities.

Β Implement active supervision techniques to ensure child safety.
,
Β Assist children during mealtime to teach social and self-help skills.
,
Β Engage parents in their children's education through involvement and activities.
,
Β Create an inventory of classroom equipment and supplies annually.

Β Collaborate with the Manager of Education & Inclusion on professional development plans.

Β Keep the classroom clean and organized.
,
Β Document matching-in-kind activities, goods, and services.
Requirements
Β Minimum of an associate degree in child development, early childhood education, or a related field with relevant coursework.

Β Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
,
Β Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams.

Β Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
,
Β Ability to follow directions and take initiative.
,
Β Knowledge of the Head Start/Early Head Start program.

Β Sensitivity in relating to children.
,
Β Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Nice-to-haves
Β Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish or other languages).

Β Birth-Kindergarten (B-K) Licensure preferred if in North Carolina.
