Job Summary:
Join WriteGirl, a renowned creative writing and mentoring organization, as a Creative Writing Mentor and inspire teen girls and gender-expansive youth to express their unique voices. As a mentor, you will work one-on-one with teens online and participate in group writing workshops, guiding them to develop their creative writing skills, build confidence, and pursue their dreams. This is a remote opportunity with flexible scheduling, allowing you to make a positive impact from anywhere in the world.
About WriteGirl:
WriteGirl is a 24-year-old organization that empowers teens through mentoring relationships with women and gender-expansive writers. Our community has nurtured talented young writers, including Inaugural Poet Amanda Gorman. We are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where teens can explore their creativity and grow as writers.
Responsibilities:
- Mentor teens one-on-one online and participate in group writing workshops
- Provide guidance, support, and encouragement to help teens develop their creative writing skills
- Foster a positive and inclusive community for teens to express themselves
- Participate in online and in-person events in Los Angeles and other cities
Requirements:
- Strong creative writing skills and communication skills
- Empathy, listening skills, kindness, and a passion for inspiring young voices
- Ability to commit to weekly, monthly, or periodic mentoring opportunities
- Completion of two half-day online orientations/trainings, an intake interview, and a criminal background check
