- *Job Summary**
As a Senior DME Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for receiving and processing hospital discharges and specialty orders. You will communicate with patients and referral sources daily to effectively assist with the transition of care from facility to home. Your primary goal will be to ensure that patients receive the necessary DME to maintain their independence and quality of life. You will also assist patients with placing orders for aids to daily living, such as bedside commodes, walkers, and wheelchairs, and schedule delivery of DME equipment in a timely manner.
- *Key Responsibilities**
- Receive and process hospital discharges and specialty orders
- Communicate with patients and referral sources daily to effectively assist with the transition of care from facility to home
- Assist patients with placing orders for aids to daily living, such as bedside commodes, walkers, and wheelchairs
- Schedule delivery of DME equipment in a timely manner
- Verify insurance coverage and authorization status for all orders
- Ensure that all documentation received meets the guidelines of specific insurances and relay that information to the patient
- Participate in phone and face-to-face interactions with patients, phone and/or Epic Chat conversations with Case Managers, and phone calls and operation of online portal for insurance companies
- Work independently to make decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision
- *Essential Qualifications**
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year DME experience
- Minimum 3 years Healthcare experience, preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to maintain professional and courteous demeanor in a dynamic work environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other applicable software
- Familiarity with Brightree, Parachute, and Epic, preferred
- *Preferred Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Previous experience in a customer service or healthcare setting
- Certification in a related field, such as Certified Medical Equipment Specialist (CMES) or Certified Durable Medical Equipment Specialist (CDMES)

- Ability to work independently and make decisions involving non-routine problems
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMRs) and other healthcare software
