Healthcare Instructor
The Dougherty County School System is seeking a Healthcare Instructor to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective teaching professionals . The Healthcare Instructor provides instruction to students enrolled in the healthcare science or allied health pathway. The role includes teaching theoretical knowledge and hands-on clinical skills to prepare students for entry-level roles in healthcare or continued education. This position fosters student learning, clinical competence, and career readiness through classroom, laboratory, and community-based experiences.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelorâs Degree in Nursing (required); Masterâs Degree (preferred);
- Current Georgia RN License in good standing;
- Three (3) years of work experience as a nurse within the past seven (7) years;
- Minimum of two yearsâ clinical experience in the past five (5) years;
- Basic level of computer skills;
- One (1) year of classroom teaching experience in an educational environment, (preferred);
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate,
- Knowledge of instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learner;
- Ability to use computer based training software;
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations related to the fields of healthcare science;
- Knowledge of current industry standards in the fields of healthcare science
- Ability to differentiate instruction and assess student performance;
- Ability to work well with students, staff, and parents in a professional manner;
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Use a variety of teaching methods (lecture, simulation, group work, hands-on practice);
- Adapt lessons to accommodate different learning styles and educational needs.
- Integrate soft skills (communication, professionalism, critical thinking) into lessons;
- Update instructional content to reflect current healthcare practices and protocols.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to promote student growth;
- Prepare students for credentialing exams (e.g., CNA, CPR, OSHA, etc.)
- Ensure proper use and care of lab equipment and instructional materials;
- Enforce school policies and classroom behavior expectations.
- Evaluate student performance in clinical settings.
- Identify and support students with learning challenges or personal issues affecting performance;
- Foster a respectful and supportive classroom culture.
- Submit required reports and data in a timely manner to administration or state agencies;
- Monitor and track student outcomes for program improvement.
- Maintain required certifications and licenses (e.g., RN license, teaching credential, CPR instructor).
- Participate in events, job fairs, or community outreach to promote health careers;
- Stay informed about healthcare trends and workforce needs.
- Model and teach safety procedures for lab, clinical, and emergency situations;
- Conduct routine safety drills and equipment checks as needed.
- Frequent walking, bending, lifting, and moving instructional or medical equipment (up to 25 lbs);
- Visual and auditory ability to observe student performance and ensure safety in clinical or lab settings;
- Manual dexterity sufficient to demonstrate clinical procedures and operate lab equipment;
- Capability to respond quickly in emergency situations;
- Ability to work in classroom, simulation lab, and occasional off-site clinical or hospital environments;
