About the position

    Responsibilities
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and development of billing staff.
  • Manage team assignments, evaluate performance, provide coaching and mentorship, and prepare annual performance reviews.
  • Approve weekly timecards, overtime, and time-off requests to ensure team productivity and efficiency.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for policies, procedures, and best practices related to billing, collections, and reporting.
  • Monitor productivity metrics, guide staff to meet departmental goals, and assist with special projects or system implementations.
  • Review and ensure accurate setup of client and matter details, including rates, discounts, and billing instructions.
  • Produce, review, and distribute prebills monthly, ensuring timely edits and accurate client invoices.
  • Maintain client relationships to follow up on aged accounts, address billing inquiries, and manage payment arrangements.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to resolve complex billing issues and monitor work-in-process (WIP) and accounts receivable.
  • Conduct regular meetings with billing attorneys to address client matters and aged receivables.
  • Utilize tools such as Aderant, Prebill Viewer, E-billing platforms, and ARCS to streamline billing processes.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial systems and reporting to meet departmental goals.
    Requirements
  • 6 years of experience in law firm billing (preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and experience with billing software such as Aderant.
  • Solid general accounting knowledge, including account reconciliation and financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex accounts and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, negotiation skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently.
