The Instructional
Designer supports the design and development of learning solutions that align
to business goals and workforce performance needs. Working under the guidance
of the Program Manager, this role contributes to the creation of engaging,
high-quality learning experiences by translating defined learning objectives
into effective instructional designs.
This role
collaborates with Program Managers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and Learning
& Development Specialists across domestic and international teams to gather
input, organize content, and structure learning solutions in a variety of
formats, including eLearning, instructor-led training, and performance support
materials for a global audience. The Instructional Designer participates in
design sessions and working meetings to support alignment and ensure learning
solutions meet program goals.
The Instructional
Designer is responsible for developing key design deliverables such as
storyboards, scripts, and content structures that enable efficient development.
This role focuses on strong execution of instructional design work, while
continuing to build capability in applying learning strategies and best
practices.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
Participate in design sessions, working meetings, and content workshops with subject matter experts and stakeholders to gather input and clarify learning needs
Translate defined learning objectives and program goals into structured learning solutions, including eLearning, instructor-led training, and performance support materials (e.g., job aids, quick-reference guides)
Support the selection of appropriate learning modalities in collaboration with the Program Manager based on audience needs and business context
Design eLearning, ILT/vILT, and blended learning experiences aligned to established program direction
Develop detailed design deliverables, including storyboards, scripts, and design specifications that support efficient development
Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to create engaging and effective learning experiences
Collaborate with SMEs and internal partners to analyze and organize content into structured learning experiences
Provide input and guidance during development and review outputs to ensure alignment with design intent and quality standards
Incorporate stakeholder and pilot feedback to refine and improve learning solutions
Prepare learning assets for LMS deployment, including exporting SCORM packages and coordinating with Technology and Knowledge Management teams
Ensure learning designs align with ACS University branding, standards, and user experience guidelines
Maintain organized design documentation, including storyboards, scripts, and version control
Contribute to continuous improvement of instructional design practices, templates, and standards
Support in-person design sessions and workshops at office or project sites as needed
- Qualifications:Bachelorâs Degree in Instructional Design or related field required; advanced degree preferredMinimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required, construction industry and/or corporate experience preferred.Portfolio or work samples demonstrating instructional design deliverables (e.g., storyboards, scripts, or eLearning deliverables) strongly preferredAdvanced knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning methodologies, and training technologyDemonstrated experience developing learning objectives, storyboards, and instructional scriptsAbility to translate complex concepts into clear, structured, and engaging learning experiencesProficiency with eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise) with a strong understanding of how designs translate into developmentExperience working with or supporting Learning Management Systems (LMS), including SCORM-based contentExperience collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to extract and organize contentExperience reviewing and guiding development of learning assets to ensure alignment with design intent and quality standardsStrong written and verbal communication skills, including technical and instructional writingStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlinesAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional team environmentEmbrace change and quick learner to adopt process and technology enhancementsWillingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time, as neededPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform theessential functions of this job. - The salary range for this position in NJÂ is estimated to be $85K-$108K annualized*

- The salary range for this position in Seattle is estimated to be $85-$108K annualized.*

Actual compensation packages within that range are based on
a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to
skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific
location.
