Integration Engineer Lead – Workato & Deltek (Ramp Bill Pay)

Company Overview

A large, privately held organization is undertaking a finance modernization initiative focused on automating accounts payable operations and implementing a modern invoice and payment platform. The organization currently operates within a legacy Deltek ERP environment with largely manual AP workflows and limited native integration capabilities.

As part of this initiative, the organization is implementing Ramp Bill Pay and requires a scalable middleware architecture leveraging Workato to create seamless synchronization between Deltek and Ramp. This integration environment will support invoice processing, payment workflows, accounting synchronization, approval routing, and downstream reporting processes.

The initiative is highly visible and requires close coordination across Finance, Accounting, IT, and implementation stakeholders.

The Opportunity

The organization is seeking a hands-on Integration Engineer with deep Workato expertise and Deltek experience to design, configure, build, and deploy middleware integrations supporting the implementation of Ramp Bill Pay.

This individual will serve as the primary owner of the integration layer and will be responsible for building Workato recipes, connectors, orchestration workflows, transformation logic, and exception handling processes required to support the end-to-end synchronization between systems.

This is not a project management or architecture-only role; the expectation is that the resource will operate as a builder and technical owner within Workato, driving implementation through design, development, testing, and deployment.

Core Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary technical owner for the Workato middleware environment supporting Deltek and Ramp Bill Pay integration.
• Design, configure, and build Workato recipes, workflows, and automation logic supporting:
• Invoice synchronization
• Vendor master synchronization
• General ledger and accounting exports
• Payment status updates
• Approval workflow automation
• Exception management processes
• Configure and maintain Workato integrations using:
• APIs
• Custom connectors
• Webhooks
• SFTP/file-based integrations
• Data transformation tools
• Build custom field mapping and business rules across Deltek and Ramp data structures.
• Configure Workato error handling, retry logic, logging, monitoring, and alerting processes.
• Support API development and integration architecture design utilizing REST services and JSON/XML payloads.
• Partner with Finance and Accounting stakeholders to translate operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Coordinate closely with Ramp implementation resources and internal IT teams throughout the implementation lifecycle.
• Lead end-to-end testing activities including:
• Unit testing
• Integration testing
• User acceptance testing (UAT)
• Production validation
• Troubleshoot integration failures and support issue resolution during implementation and post-go-live stabilization.
• Create technical documentation including:
• Integration architecture diagrams
• Recipe documentation
• Data mapping specifications
• Support procedures

Ideal Background
• 5+ years of integration engineering experience with at least 2–3 years of hands-on Workato development experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience designing and building Workato recipes in production environments
• Strong experience with:
• Workato workflow orchestration
• Custom connectors
• APIs and API management
• Recipe optimization and monitoring
• Error handling and exception workflows
• Recipe lifecycle management
• Deep experience integrating ERP platforms with SaaS applications.
• Strong Deltek ERP experience including familiarity with:
• Accounts payable processes
• Vendor structures
• General ledger mappings
• Accounting synchronization requirements
• Strong experience with:
• REST APIs
• JSON/XML
• Webhooks
• SFTP/file-based integrations
• Middleware architecture patterns
• Experience supporting finance systems and AP workflow implementations preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating in evolving environments with complex business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
• Workato certification strongly preferred
• Previous Ramp integration experience preferred
• Prior Deltek-to-third-party integration experience
• Experience supporting AP automation platforms and finance modernization initiatives
• Experience with legacy ERP environments and custom integration frameworks

Engagement Details
• Interim / contract engagement
• Estimated duration: 12–24 weeks
• Target start timeline: within 2–4 weeks
• Remote with potential travel as needed
• Competitive hourly rates commensurate with experience

Compensation

Wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions. Exact compensation may vary based on factors including skills, experience, certification, license and location. A reasonable estimate of current compensation range is $100-$200/hr
