Job description: Job Description: Adult Basic Education Instructor are responsible to plan, implement, and assess curriculum for ABE students. This includes, but is not limited to: GED, ESL, US Citizenship, Adult Diploma, digital literacy, workplace skills, career and post-secondary planning, basic literacy and numeracy, and basic life skills. Instructors will help monitor and improve student and program outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Curriculum and Instruction:
? Design lessons to meet student needs aligned to current standards as set forth by Minnesota
Department of Education and the Detroit Lakes Adult Basic Education program
? Utilize MDE approved distance learning platforms to best meet the needs of our students
? Tutor and monitor students in resource room style tutoring to support learning, goal
completion, and success
? Direct and supervise unlicensed staff and volunteers who will assist with implementing and
delivering curriculum
? Analyze, evaluate, and interpret student work and comprehension through informal, formal and
standardized assessment
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Current Minnesota Teacher's certification
- Knowledge of adult student characteristics, preferred
- Knowledge of adult basic education content areas, preferred.
- Teaching ability in ABE content areas and standards.
- Ability to supervise and utilize paraprofessionals, work-study students, and volunteers.
- Ability to make decisions concerning student instruction.
- Exceptions to these requirements will be considered based on exemplary skills, training, and record of success.
- up to 15 hrs per week / Instructor's choice of day and time
- Some training and workshops required in the summer.
Rate of Pay: $33.47 - $35.55 (DOQ)
Start Date: Upon hire and training
