Medical Writer and Clinical Content Reviewer, Addiction Medicine / Detox (MD/DO) — Contract, Remote
A DHCS-licensed residential detox facility with two locations in the California, is rebuilding our website from the ground up with a focus on clinical accuracy, Google E-E-A-T compliance, and genuine value for patients and families navigating addiction treatment decisions.
We are looking for a licensed physician with experience in addiction medicine, psychiatry, or a related clinical field who can serve as both a primary clinical writer and a medical reviewer for our content team. This is a remote, contract position with a consistent workload and a clear, structured editorial process.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a writer, you will produce original, clinically accurate health articles on topics including alcohol and drug detox, withdrawal management, medication-assisted treatment, co-occurring disorders, and related subjects. Articles are typically 1,000 to 1,500 words, written for a general audience at an 8th to 9th grade reading level, and structured around specific SEO briefs you will receive before each assignment.
As a reviewer, you will evaluate articles written by other members of the content team for clinical accuracy, flag errors, and approve content before publication. Your name and credentials will appear on content you have written or reviewed.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The clinical knowledge is table stakes. What matters just as much is how you handle being wrong. We work in a YMYL content environment where a single pharmacological error carries real consequences for real people. We need someone who treats accuracy as a professional obligation, welcomes corrections as part of the process, and does not defend errors when they are identified.

WHAT THIS IS NOT
This is not a ghostwriting role where we write and you sign off without reading. Every article that carries your name will require your genuine clinical review. If that standard does not fit your availability or professional comfort, this role is not the right fit.
COMPENSATION
Flat rate per article, negotiable based on experience and scope. We pay promptly upon delivery and approval. Volume is consistent we are building a long-term content relationship, not a one-time project.
