About the position

The Plant Maintenance Mechanic at American Airlines is responsible for ensuring the safety and efficiency of the airline's facilities and equipment. This role involves a variety of technical and general maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining building components and machinery. Responsibilities
Ā• Troubleshoot, disassemble, clean, check, repair, rework, replace, fabricate, assemble, install, and adjust building components and plant equipment.

Ā• Execute assignments requiring plumbing and millwright skills.

Ā• Weld materials as needed for repairs and maintenance.
,
Ā• Perform general building maintenance and construction work.
,
Ā• Maintain locks and keys for facility access and security.
,
Ā• Assist in storage, removal, and clean-up of hazardous waste.
,
Ā• Ensure proper completion of forms, records, reports, and other paperwork.

Ā• Request parts and clean work area after each shift.

Ā• Perform Foreign Object Debris (FOD) walks and coordinate with vendors regarding technical questions.

Ā• Explain work procedures to other personnel and escort vendors throughout airport property.

Ā• Report to position on time and adhere to safety procedures and policies.

Requirements
Ā• High School diploma or GED.
,
Ā• Valid driver's license.
,
Ā• Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand English or the local language.
,
Ā• Minimum of 36 months journeyman experience in maintenance trades such as carpenter, electrician, HVAC, millwright, painter, plumber, or welder.

Ā• Possess applicable state or city license.
,
Ā• Willingness to work outdoors in any weather conditions.
,
Ā• Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
,
Ā• Must pass FAA criminal background checks for airport access.
,
Ā• Ability to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges.

Ā• Successful completion of drug screening process.
