Our client, a trailblazer in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Offshore Wind Turbine Engineer to contribute to their groundbreaking projects. This position is a fully remote role, enabling top-tier engineers to drive innovation in offshore wind from any location within the US. You will be a key technical authority, providing expert guidance on the design, development, installation, and lifecycle management of offshore wind turbines. Your responsibilities will encompass complex engineering challenges, including aerodynamic performance, structural integrity, control systems, and electrical systems for massive offshore turbines. You will lead technical reviews, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including project management, supply chain, and O&M. We are looking for a visionary leader with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities presented by the offshore wind environment. Expertise in fluid dynamics, structural mechanics, materials science, and power systems specific to large-scale wind turbines is essential. Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership in the design, engineering, and optimization of offshore wind turbines. Oversee the structural, aerodynamic, and electrical design aspects of turbine components. Develop and implement advanced control strategies to maximize energy capture and minimize loads. Analyze turbine performance data and identify areas for improvement. Lead investigations into turbine failures and develop corrective actions. Ensure compliance with international offshore wind standards and regulations. Collaborate with R&D teams to evaluate and integrate new turbine technologies. Mentor and guide a team of wind turbine engineers. Interface with key suppliers and manufacturing partners. Contribute to the strategic planning for offshore wind technology development. Qualifications:
Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. 12+ years of experience in wind turbine design and engineering, with a significant focus on offshore applications. Proven expertise in aerodynamics, structural dynamics, control systems, and power electronics for wind turbines. Deep understanding of offshore environmental conditions and their impact on turbine design. Experience with relevant simulation software (e.g., FAST, ANSYS, MATLAB/Simulink). Familiarity with offshore installation and maintenance practices. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage complex projects and lead distributed teams effectively.
