Product Compliance Specialist – U.S. Consumer Product Regulations (Fiber Arts Tools)
Job Overview
We are a premium e-commerce brand that designs and sells fiber arts tools (crochet hooks and accessories) and are seeking a Product Compliance Specialist to help us identify and document the regulatory requirements for selling our products in the United States.
This role will focus on researching applicable product safety and material compliance requirements and helping us build a clear internal compliance framework. Our products are general consumer products and are not intended for children, and this classification is already stated on our website.
While the initial scope is U.S. compliance requirements, familiarity with REACH and other international chemical regulations is important because our suppliers and materials are global.
This project is focused on research and documentation, not legal representation.
Scope of Work
The specialist will:
Review our product categories (crochet hooks, resin components, metal components, accessories, and packaging)
Identify applicable U.S. regulatory requirements for general consumer products, including but not limited to:
CPSIA considerations (as applicable to general consumer products)
Prop 65 requirements
Material and chemical restrictions
Product labeling requirements
Any applicable product safety or testing requirements
Identify whether REACH or other chemical regulations apply to our materials or products
Clarify when third-party testing, supplier declarations, or certificates may be required
Recommend documentation we should obtain from suppliers
Outline any ongoing compliance or record-keeping requirements

Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with experience in:
U.S. consumer product regulatory compliance
Chemical/material compliance (REACH, Prop 65, RoHS familiarity helpful)
Consumer goods or small product manufacturing
Supplier compliance documentation
Translating regulatory requirements into clear internal processes
Experience with consumer tools, accessories, or small manufactured products is strongly preferred.
