Social Media, Marketing & Communications Lead
This role leads social media, communications, and marketing efforts for an animal rights organization, overseeing content, strategy, and a small team to drive audience growth, engagement, and impact.
This is a part-time contractor role focused on digital execution and team leadership within the animal advocacy space.
Key Responsibilities
- Social Media & Content
- Oversee content creation across social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook)
- Optimize content for algorithms (hooks, captions, formatting)
- Review and edit video, graphic, and written content
- Communications
- Manage communication across channels (newsletters, website, social media, reports)
- Ensure consistent tone and messaging aligned with the movement
- Marketing Strategy
- Apply marketing best practices to grow audience and engagement
- Support fundraising and outreach through digital channels
- Team Leadership
- Supervise and guide a small team of associates
- Provide clear, constructive feedback on content and performance
- Calibrate strategy and ensure consistent execution
- Candidate Profile
- Proven experience managing social media/communications for an animal rights or vegan organization
- Strong understanding of social media algorithms and content performance
- Experience with newsletters, websites, and multi-channel communications
- Basic–intermediate video editing skills
- Basic–intermediate graphic design skills (Canva, Photoshop)
- Comfort engaging with sensitive animal rights content
- Ability to lead and provide feedback to a team
- Native English speaker (preferred), North American time zones
