- Duties
- Create compelling written articles of local events and activities as well as local government meetings and functions.
- Conduct thorough research to ensure accuracy and depth in all writing assignments.
- Proofread and copy edit all materials for clarity, grammar, punctuation, and adherence to AP style or the Chicago Manual of Style as required.
- Collaborate with team members to develop content strategies that align with project objectives.
- Fact-check information to maintain credibility and reliability in all published works.
- Engage in creative writing projects (occasionally) that captivate audiences.
- Maintain organized documentation of all written materials for easy reference.
- Experience
- Proven experience in writing across various formats including journalism, copywriting, proposal writing, and technical writing.
- Strong proofreading and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication skills that facilitate collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with AP style guidelines as well as the Chicago Manual of Style is preferred.
- Proficiency in word processing software and other relevant tools for efficient content creation.
- A background in research methodologies to support fact-checking efforts is essential.
- Demonstrated ability in creative writing that showcases originality and innovation.
