YouTube Video Editing Assistant (Clip Sourcing + Rough Cut Only)
I run a YouTube channel focused on long-form, documentary-style videos (Stray Kids & ENHYPEN), typically 18–23 minutes. I’m looking for a video editing assistant to handle clip sourcing and rough timeline assembly only.
You will be given a final script and voiceover. Your job is to find relevant footage (performances, behind-the-scenes, interviews, livestreams, etc.) and place it into the timeline so the entire video is visually covered.
What You’ll Do
Find clips that match what is being discussed in the script
Place clips into the timeline aligned with the correct sections of the voiceover
Trim clips so they roughly fit (no need for perfect timing)
Ensure the full video is visually covered with appropriate footage
Important – Tone Matching
Footage must match the emotional tone of the voiceover.
Serious or emotional sections → use calm, focused, or reflective footage
High-energy or exciting sections → use performances or dynamic clips
Avoid mismatched tone (e.g., playful or goofy footage during serious moments)
If the tone does not match, the clip is not usable—even if it is relevant.
If you are unsure, choose the safer (more neutral/serious) option.
What You Should Focus On
Relevance to what is being said
Tone matching (very important)
Visual variety (avoid repeating the same clip too often)
Clear, consistent coverage across the full video
What You Should NOT Do
Do NOT:
Add effects, transitions, overlays, or text
Make creative decisions about pacing or storytelling
This is a rough cut only. I will handle all final editing and polish.
Project File Requirements
Work must be done in Final Cut Pro.
Final delivery must include:
Final Cut Pro library (.fcpbundle) with all media included
Fully assembled timeline with clips placed
No missing or offline media
Project settings:
1080p (1920x1080)
16:9
29.97 fps
The project must be clean and organized so I can easily take over and refine.
File Delivery
Due to file size, files must be delivered via Google Drive.
Important
Speed, accuracy, and following structure matter more than perfection.
A clear, usable rough cut is better than a slow, overworked edit.
Test Task (Required)
You will be asked to complete a short paid test:
90 seconds of voiceover
Add relevant clips that match both content and tone
This will be used to evaluate:
Clip selection
Tone matching
Organization and structure
Scope
Ongoing work if quality is strong
1 video per week to start
Budget
This is a fixed-price role per video.
Paid test: $15
First full videos: $40–$50 depending on quality
Higher rates available for consistently strong work
