We’re two brothers launching a YouTube channel at the intersection of faith, food, and fitness. We’ll cover trending topics, react to clips/tweets, and produce occasional story driven challenge episodes. We’re looking for an experienced YouTube editor who understands pacing, retention, and packaging for monetized channels.

Reference Styles (watch before applying)

  • Duo commentary, single frame, frequent pauses:

What You’ll Edit

  • 2–3 long form videos per week to start

o Commentary: 8–12 min

o Storytelling/challenge: 12–18 min (occasional)

  • 3–5 vertical Shorts per long form video (9:16, 20–45s)

Deliverables per Video

Must haves

  • 1x final long form MP4 (4K or 1080p), YouTube ready
  • 1x .srt captions file (closed captions)
  • 1x chapters/timecodes list (paste ready text)
  • 3–5 vertical Shorts (MP4 1080×1920) with accurate subtitles

Nice to have (optional)

  • 1x organized edit project file (Premiere Pro or Final Cut)
  • 1–2 thumbnails (PNG/JPG) + source file if you offer thumbnail services

Editing Expectations

  • Commentary rhythm: clip → pause → riff; tasteful zooms/punch ins; meme/tweet/headline overlays; “receipts” on screen; music/SFX used sparingly
  • Storytelling rhythm: cold open tease (5–10s), branded sting, clear beats (setup → stakes → payoff), scorecards/timers, macro overlays, simple lower thirds
  • Audio: dialogue cleanup, consistent loudness, music ducking under speech
  • Color: consistent look and skin tones; basic correction is fine
  • Retention: strong first 30–60 seconds, pattern interrupts as needed, remove dead air

Turnaround

  • Commentary (8–12 min): Draft 1 within 24–48 hours after receiving footage + brief; final within 72 hours (1–2 revision rounds)
  • Storytelling (12–18 min): Draft 1 in 3–5 days; final within 7 days

Requirements

  • Proven YouTube editing experience for monetized channels (share links)
  • Comfortable with duo commentary and/or podcast style reaction edits
  • Experience assembling story/challenge videos (fitness/food is a plus)
  • Premiere Pro or Final Cut proficiency; light motion graphics for lower thirds/scorecards; reliable music/SFX sourcing (royalty free)
  • Fair use awareness for reaction content (short clips, frequent pauses, transformative commentary)

Nice to Have

  • Thumbnail design skills (share CTR examples if available)
  • After Effects/Apple Motion templates for captions/lower thirds
  • Color consistency, LUTs, skin tone care

Compensation

  • Please propose per video pricing for:

o Commentary (8–12 min)

o Storytelling (12–18 min)

o Shorts pack (3–5 clips)

  • Optional add ons: project file handover; thumbnails

How to Apply

Please include:

  • 3–5 YouTube videos you edited that match the reference styles (note your role and what you specifically did)
  • 2 vertical Shorts with dynamic subtitles you edited
  • A brief overview of your workflow and typical turnaround
  • Your proposed rates and availability (hours/week), time zone
  • Optional: thumbnail examples with CTR

Paid Test (for shortlisted editors)

  • We’ll share raw A roll + 2–3 clips/tweets + a simple brief
  • Deliverables: 90–120s mini episode (commentary style) + 1 vertical Short
  • Turnaround: 48 hours

Tone & Brand

  • Smart, warm, a bit playful; respectful of faith; evidence based when discussing food/fitness
  • Visuals: clean, high contrast; minimal text on screen; clear sources

Notes

  • Burned in captions are not required; closed captions (.srt) are.
