Construction Manager (Energy Retrofit/Infrastructure Upgrades)
Looking to speak with Construction Managers to oversee multiple concurrent energy retrofit and infrastructure upgrade projects across Northern California (San Fran to Sac).
This is a remote role, with travel in area.
This is a leadership role within a national design-build energy services business delivering complex retrofit projects in commercial, institutional, and public-sector facilities.
If you understand construction execution in occupied facilities and are comfortable managing cost, schedule, subcontractors, and client relationships simultaneously. This is a high-impact opportunity.
Your focus:
- Oversee several concurrent mid-sized energy retrofit construction projects
- Provide constructability and cost input during the design phase
- Coordinate and lead the bid process, including pre-bid walkthroughs
- Manage subcontractor administration, including preparation of subcontract agreements
- Coordinate submittals and ensure specification compliance
- Develop and manage master project schedules and rolling three-week look-aheads
- Lead construction meetings with subcontractors, engineers, and owners
- Enforce quality control standards and safety practices (OSHA compliance required)
- Manage project cost control, forecasting, and monthly cost vs. budget reporting
- Mentor project staff and support team development
- Maintain construction management software and documentation systems
- Travel throughout Northern California to active project sites
Your Experience
- 4–6+ years of professional construction management experience
- Strong background in field operations and construction means & methods
- Experience managing multiple active projects simultaneously
Preferred Industry Exposure
- ESCO, energy retrofit, or design-build project environments
- Commercial or institutional MEP systems
- Commissioning or performance-based delivery models
Technical & Leadership Skills
- Ability to balance cost, schedule, and quality without disrupting client operations
- Strong subcontractor leadership and coordination experience
- Experience forecasting budgets and reporting financial performance
- Confident leading owner-facing construction meetings
- Ability to identify and resolve schedule, budget, or quality risks early
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (required)
- PMP certification (or desire to obtain) preferred
- OSHA 30 certification required
- Valid driver’s license
This is not traditional ground-up construction. These are performance-driven retrofit projects tied to operational continuity, energy outcomes, and client trust.
