Our client, a boutique law practice located in Lower Manhattan is seeking a highly skilled and experienced FULLY REMOTE ESTATE LITIGATION PARALEGAL with extensive experience in New York Surrogate's Court procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate law, probate, and administration, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and contribute meaningfully to supporting clients and legal processes. Seeking candidates with 8+ years of NY Surrogate's Court experience. MUST HAVE NY ESTATE LITIGATION EXPERIENCE.

Role: Surrogate’s Paralegal

Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 (DOE)

Location: Fully remote role but office is located in Lower Manhattan

Schedule: FULLY REMOTE!!

Hours: 10am – 6pm but some flexibility (40 hour work week)

    Responsibilities:
  • Drafting applications for probate and administration (candidates should be able to prepare probate and administration applications independently and obtain decrees with guidance);
  • Drafting petitions for judicial settlement of fiduciary accountings (candidates should be able to prepare petitions and accounts independently and obtain decrees with guidance);
  • Obtaining jurisdiction: serving process and submitting proofs of service (candidates should be able to obtain jurisdiction independently);
  • Ability to conduct intake of new clients and to communicate effectively with clients, the Court, clerks, and third parties;
  • Calendaring court dates and deadlines;
  • E-filing; and
  • Strong computer/technology skills and the ability to learn new applications: Microsoft Office Suite, LEAP
    Requirements:
  • 8+ years of heavy Surrogate's Court experience; heavy Estate Litigation experience.
  • Must have experience dealing with NY courts.
  • Ability to work 40-hours a week during standard business hours.
  • Be extremely attentive to detail;
  • Have strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Be patient, compassionate, confident, and courteous;
  • Have excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills;
  • Be a self-starter;
  • Be a team player;
  • Have the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment; and
  • Possess litigation support skills or the willingness to learn and move into a litigation support role.
