University Lecturer - Biology
Our client, a reputable academic institution, is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable University Lecturer specializing in Biology. This role involves delivering engaging lectures and facilitating laboratory sessions for undergraduate students. The ideal candidate possesses a strong academic background, a passion for teaching, and the ability to inspire students in the complex world of biological sciences. This is a hybrid position, combining on-campus teaching responsibilities with remote administrative tasks and curriculum development.
Responsibilities:
Developing and delivering comprehensive lecture content for undergraduate Biology courses, ensuring accuracy and relevance to current scientific understanding. Designing and leading laboratory sessions, providing hands-on experience and guiding students through experimental procedures. Creating and grading assignments, exams, and other assessments to evaluate student learning and progress. Providing academic advising and support to students, addressing their questions and concerns regarding course material and academic pathways. Contributing to curriculum development and course revision efforts to enhance the educational experience. Maintaining accurate student records and submitting grades and reports in a timely manner. Engaging in professional development activities to stay current in the field of Biology and in pedagogical best practices. Collaborating with fellow faculty members on departmental initiatives and committees.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Biology or a related field. A Ph.D. is preferred. Previous teaching experience at the university or college level, particularly in delivering lecture and laboratory courses. Strong knowledge of core biological principles, including cell biology, genetics, ecology, and evolution. Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment. Proficiency in using educational technologies and learning management systems. Commitment to student success and academic excellence. This position is located in **Richmond, Virginia, US**, and requires a hybrid presence.
